Lower Republican River Drainage Basin

Located in the Northeast Region of the state and exists in Jewell County, Republic County, Washington County, Marshall County, Nemaha County, Brown County, Cloud County, Clay County, Riley County, Pottawatomie County, Jackson County, Jefferson County, Atchison County, Leavenworth County, Geary County, Morris County, Wabaunsee County, Shawnee County, Douglas County, Johnson County, Wyandotte County.

There are nine rivers in this drainage basin, some with two or three branches. The rivers are: Republican River, Blue River, Kansas River, Delaware River, Missouri River.

Some streams in this basin flow N., some S., some E. The general flow of this drainage basin is southeasterly.

Drainage Area: 10,500 square miles of north central and north eastern Kansas. Peak flow is peak the outflow was 60,000 cfs. Some of the endangerd species in this basin are: Suckermouth Minnow, Plains Minnow, Brassy Minnow and Arkansas Darter.
