Lyndon is located in Osage County and is the judicial seat of that county. While located in the central part of the county, Lyndon lost prestige in it's early days over legal battles for the status of county seat.

Available to visitors is a self guided tour of 22 historical places in Lyndon. A small booklet describing the tour can be picked up at the Osage County Historical Society and some of the businesses for $1.00. The Lyndon Carnegie Library is the smallest of the Carnegie libraries still being used. The Genealogy Society is housd in the library. Lyndon sports a saddle club and annual rodeo events. Visitors are welcome at tht RV Park 2 miles north of town on Highway 75 for overnight stops.

Heart of America Shakespeare Festival Kansas City MO June18-July7 The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival is set under the stars in South Moreland Park near Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. It is a perfect way to spend a summer evening with family and friends. They have several programs to study and explore such as Speaker's Bureau and Poster and Sonnet Contest. The faculty includes theatre professionals, actors, and educators experienced in performing and teaching Shakespeare. Many of the instructors are veterans of festival productions.
