Quinter Kansas

Founded: 1885, Population: 961, Elevation: 2677. Quinter is located in Gove County just off I-70 at Exit 107 between [wakeeny] and Oakley along Highway 40 near the Saline River and Big Creek. Quinter is only one of a string of towns owing their existance to the Union-Pacific Railroad. Gove County is in the high plains, but the Smoky Hill River has cut a deep valley across it from west to east. This valley has been a natural route for centuries, and it's lined with geologic splendors like Castle Rock and Monument Rocks.
