The Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum is located in Osa's hometown of
Chanute, Kansas. The museum is the main center for the collection and distribution of information concerning the lives and accomplishments of Martin and Osa Johnson...Access to Johnson materials and the various collections as well as the museum's Henshall Archives can be granted to researchers.
In 1993 the museum relocated to Chanute's beautifully renovated Santa Fe train depot as part of a $2 million project...Visitors will find carefully planned exhibits, a range of education programs for children and adults, and a helpful staff of professional employees and volunteers.
The museum's exhibit areas are open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. The museum closes early on New Year's Eve and Christmas Eve, and is closed on New Year's Day, Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
