Located in Rooks County, in the North Central Region. Adjacent to the Solomon River Valley. Webster Reservoir, west of Stockton on the South Fork of the Solomon River, complements the picturesque Chalk Hills. The area's mixed grass prairie, river, lake, marshes, and riparian trees and shrubs teem with wildlife. From Stockton (37 miles north of Hays) go 8 miles west on U.S. 24; then follow the signs southwest along the north shore for 2.5 miles to the Park Office. Points of interest -While you're at the park, take time to visit historical Nicodemus National Hisoric Site (ten miles west of the park). The area is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the only remaining western town established by African americans. Other area sites include the Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Hays and the Dane G. Hansen Museum in Logan.
