The Northwestern Region of Kansas, also known as the High Plains, is a land of immense rolling prairies once hunted by the Arapaho and Cheyenne Indians. Intertwined through the Plains are rivers, creeks and fields of grain. At Monument Rocks National Landmark (the "Kansas Pyramids") fossils can be found where ancient inland seas once covered the plains.

The towns of the region boast country charm, interesting history, and unusual small-town museums.
