John McDonogh, a well-known benefactor of public education in
New Orleans, bestowed a 100-acre tract of land to the city for a park. Today, City Park has evolved into the fifth largest urban park in the nation, encompassing 1,500 acres. The park contains a Botancial Garden, two miniature trains and a fariy tale theme park featuring 26 larger-than-life story book exhibits.
