Marksville is located in
Avoyelles Parish (of which it is the parish seat) within the
Crossroads Region, between
Alexandria and
Baton Rouge along Highway 1 near
Mansura, the Atchafalaya River, Grand Cote National Wildlife Refuge, Spring Bayou Wildlife Management Area and the
Red River.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 5,427, a decrease of 99 since 1990.
