Marksville is located in Avoyelles Parish (of which it is the parish seat) within the Crossroads Region, between Alexandria and Baton Rouge along Highway 1 near Mansura, the Atchafalaya River, Grand Cote National Wildlife Refuge, Spring Bayou Wildlife Management Area and the Red River.
