In the 16 years that Women and Children's Hospital has been serving the people of Southwest Louisiana, they have made a name for themselves with excellence in women's services and now have expanded to provide quality, cost-effective health care for women and children. After serving the community for almost 19 years, Women & Children's Hospital will undergo a major expansion of its original Nelson Road facility. The cost of the project is projected to be greater than $8 million. Construction at the facility began in June 2002 and will be finished in July 2003.

The expansion includes such areas as labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care unit, hospital admitting, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, day surgery waiting area, physical therapy, respiratory therapy and medical records. A chapel will also be added to the facility.
