The Ogden Museum's transitional museum space, located in an antebellum courtyard building on Julia Street's gallery row, is making progress on construction on the museum's permanent home on nearby Lee Circle. Stephen Goldring Hall's Grand Opening is August 23, directly across from the Contemporary Art Center and the new D-Day museum. The museum will contain 67,000-sq-ft of galleries and support space, as well as a roof terrace overlooking the Arts District. Renovation will soon be complete on the 1889 Taylor Library building, designed by HH Richardson, one of the most important historic buildings in
New Orleans and in Louisiana. The opening of the museum complex is expected in the fall of 2003. A growing digital art collection and archival research center is based upon the 1200 works donated to the University of New Orleans Foundation by Roger H Ogden.
