Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site

The Plaquemine lock encompasses the 1909 lock structure and lockhouse which allowed passage between the Mississippi River and Bayou Plaquemine. The lockhouse now is a museum and tourist information center. The adjacent observation tower commands a picturesque view of the lock system and the river. This is a 30 minute tour conducted Tues.-Sun. 10-4 and it is closed on all major holidays. This tour is free.
