Echternachs Benedictine Abbey was founded in 698 by St. Willebrord. It is well known for the rare and valuable manuscripts produced there during the period between the 8th and 10th centuries, when little historical documentation was being compiled anywhere in Europe. The techniques used by the monks in the abbeys Scriptorium are explored in the Museum.
