The National Museum of Natural History traces its roots to the founding of the Socit des Sciences Naturelles in 1850, and the first exhibition of the Societes collections, in 1854. Since then, the museum has been housed in several facilities, moving into its present three-building location in 1996. One building houses the Museum and its public permanent and temporary exhibits, another hosts educational services, and a third is home to the Museums Scientific Research Center. The permanent exhibits at the Museum are divided into rooms with titles such as Who am I, Luxembourgs Landscapes, Luxembourgs regions, Our ancestors, Our Earth, The Planets, and The Collection.
