The commune of Schifflange, population 7,854, is located immediately to the east of
Esch-sur-Alzette, 12 kilometers southeast of
Luxembourg City. A former mining town, Schifflange and its surrounding countryside bear remarkably few scars from its days of heavy industry, and even the reclaimed mining areas are pretty and hospitable.
The A13 roadway passes through the north of Schifflange.
