Founded in 1934, this center includes 15 acres of intricately designed landscaped gardens, historic herb gardens, vibrant annual and perennial beds, colorful demonstration vegetable gardens, pond, rose, and children's gardens, and a woodland trail. Among the 23 attractions of the Botanical Garden are the Solar Greenhouse built into a hillside, Sedum Hill, Herb Production Garden, Proctor Garden, an informal mixed border of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and bulbs selected for their ornamental value and The Center House, an 18th Century farmhouse.
The nonprofit Berkshire Botanical Garden, the only such organization serving this tri-state region, is active as a center for horticulture, educational programs, and community events.
