Search Monterey Massachusetts

This museum is a large elegant Georgian saltbox with six large, paneled rooms, four fireplaces, two beehive ovens, and three closets, originally built circa 1750 as a parsonage for the Reverend Adonijah Bidwell. The Reverend survived his first two wives; his third wife, however, hung on till the age of 85 and outlasted her lusty husband.

The museum, set in the Berkshire Hills, is authentically restored. It is filled with 18th and 19th century furniture and is surrounded by 190 acres of woodlands. Vistiors can enjoy the several miles of hiking trails that run through the property.
