Brant Point Light |
The Brant Point Light Station was estabished in 1746. The current lighthouse tower, built in 1901, is the eighth replacement. This 26-foot, cylindrical, white, wooden tower was automated in 1965. The current optic is a 250mm lens, which emits a red light eclipsed every four seconds; a fog signal sounds one blast every ten seconds.
The lighthouse is within walking distance of the ferry landing. The grounds are open to the public but the tower is not. A reproduction of the 1901 tower is on the grounds of the Mystic Seaport Museum.
