Falmouth Historical Society Museum |
Located at 55-65 Palmer Avenue at the Village Green, this museum is housed in two restored homes shown in period. Rooms feature paintings, glass, china, kitchen equipment, and a whaling exhibit. There is a special room devoted to Katharine Lee Bates, a native of Falmouth and author of "America the Beautiful". A recently acquired cannon from the H.M.S. Nimrod, which bombarded Falmouth in 1814, is housed in a special shed, and colonial and herb gardens are part of the complex.
Guided tours available by appointment.
Open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 to 4, June through August. Open Saturday-Sunday from 1 to 4, September and October.
Walking tours are given Tuesday at 4pm, and trolley tours every other Wednesday at 10am. Call ahead to verify times.
