Gordon College was founded in 1889 as a missionary training institute. Originally located in Boston, mergers and associations with some divinity schools and seminaries in several locations, Gordon later moved to its Wenham campus in 1955. Though Gordon shares a common heritage, the college and seminary are no longer formally linked to one another.
Gordon College stands as one of the top Christian liberal arts colleges in the country and the only nondenominational Christian college in New England. It offers BA and BS degrees for about 1700 undergraduate students, and M.Ed. and B.Mus. degrees for about 70 graduate students.
