This 340-acre sanctuary was the home of children's author Thornton W. Burgess. This is where he wrote many of his nature stories about Peter Cottontail, Reddy Fox and other animal characters. There are 4 miles of walking trails, Environmental Center which houses natural history exhibits and picnic grounds. Center open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday 12:30pm-4pm; closed January 1, Thanksgiving, and December 24-25. Trails open dawn-dusk.
