The 14-foot statue of Captain Miles Standish stands atop a 116-foot granite base on Captain's Hill. This monument was erected to recognize the military leader of the Plymouth Colony. The monument was completed in 1898 and offers a panoramic view of several lighthouses and a good view of five-mile-long Duxbury Beach, Plymouth Harbor, and the Blue Hills to the northwest.
Most of the park section of this monument is now a pine grove containing walking paths. Picnic tables are available in the summer.
