The inn was built in 1839 for his bride by whaling Captain Moses Nickerson. Gardens are found on all sides of the property and provide beautiful arrays of color from spring to fall. The rose gardens flourish on the west side and are very visible from the parking lot as you enter.
Each of the seven rooms is distinctively decorated, one with a seashore decor, another with darker, masculine colors, dogs and ducks, and the most romantic has a four poster bed hand painted with delicate roses. Three guest rooms feature a working fireplace. All rooms have private baths and extended cable television.
