Mount Ida College was founded in 1899 as a women's private high school on Mount Ida Hill in Newton Corner. Through several transformations, it has now become a private, co-ed, four-year accredited institution, in a 72-acre suburban setting, about 8 miles from downtown Boston. A student/faculty ratio of 9:1 is maintained for about 1300 students.
