This museum opened in 1824 and is one of the oldest public musuems in America. The two-story museum houses a collection of Pilgrim furniture, armor, decorative arts, and Early American paintings, and the remains of the 'Sparrow Hawk', a trans-Atlantic ship dating from 1626. Children can enjoy a historical treasure hunt. Not only are we a museum that has been in operation since 1824, but we are in the original 1824 Greek Revival building, gray granite with 6 Doric columns, designed by a renowned architect named Alexander Parris. Pilgrim Hall Museum is on the National Register of Historic Places.
