On October 1, 1999, Radcliffe College and Harvard University were officially merged, and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study was created as one of ten Harvard schools. Though its mission covers advanced study over a broad range of disciplines, in recognition of Radcliffe College's historic contributions to the education of women and to the study of issues related to women, the Radcliffe Institute maintains a continuing commitment to the study of women, gender, and society.
For its graduate students, The Graduate Consortium in Women's Studies (GCWS) at Radcliffe is a pioneering effort by faculty at six degree-granting institutions in the Boston area and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study to advance women's studies scholarship.
For undergraduate students, Radcliffe makes connections for undergraduate women and men with Radcliffe fellows, alumnae, and special guests through intergenerational programs that emphasize mentoring and experiential learning.
