Since its 1912 inception, The Skating Club of Boston has played a major role in figure skating. Club members continue to become national and international judges, competitors, and officials. Many national skating organizations and competitions originated here. Founded by an enthusiastic group of Boston skaters who had shared skating out of doors at various sites in the Boston area, building the first Boston Arena in 1910, one of the first indoor artificial ice surfaces in the United States, gave skating a great boost into the era of modern figure skating.
The Club actively promotes skating by drawing on the enthusiasm, energy and talent of its members. An active committee system draws in members to become part of a successful volunteer organization. Numerous activities bring in new members.
