The Armory adjoins the Springfield Technical Community College campus and was commissioned by Gen. George Washington. It was the first of two Federal armories in the country. It houses one of the most extensive collections of firearms in the world, including Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's 'Organ of Muskets', a collection of Civil War muskets.
