Wellesley College is a private, nonprofit, all-womens, liberal arts college on a 500-acre campus in
Wellesley, 13 miles west of
Boston. Nearly 900 courses offered to about 2300 students lead to a 4-year degree. Student/faculty ratio is 1:9. Average class size is 18-21. Introductory courses may enroll more than 100, but routinely break into small discussion groups. Seminars bring together 15-18 students.
A cross-registration program with MIT expands the range of courses available and still maintain students' home campus residence.
The Twelve College Exchange Program enables students from member colleges to live and study on another campus. Exchanges are available with nearby Brandeis University; with Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia; and with Mills College in Oakland, California. Wellesley students are also encouraged to spend some time abroad in programs at many institutions throughout the world. Financial aid for study abroad is available through Wellesley.
