Founded in 1874 and located in New England's second largest city, 40 miles west of Boston, Worcester State College is a public four-year, metropolitan academic institution with an emphasis on business, teacher education, allied health fields and biotechnology programs. The 53-acre campus serves a total enrollment of more than 6000 students. in its undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

The thirteen colleges of the Worcester Consortium provide student access to the offerings of each member institution at no extra cost, thus increasing exponentially the educational opportunities available.
