Hecla / Grindstone Provincial Park is a series of islands between the east and west shores of Lake Winnipeg. With names like Black Island and Drumming Point, this park is cloaked in mystery from the ways of the Anishinabe (Ojibwe) medicine men. Come cross over the causeway and leave the mainland behind. Follow the beacon of the Hecla lighthouse to the safe and well-serviced moorage of Gull Harbour. Choose a marsh trail or stroll to the Gull Harbour lighthouse. Two self-guiding trails give the choice of wandering through scenic Hecla Village, 1.0 km/.6 mi. or study the signs of moose along the 10.0 km/6.2 mi. West Quarry Trail. Here it's easy to be busy, even easier just to relax.
