The museum's collections include artifacts and photographs relating black life in Maryland, African and African American art objects, historical documents, and rare books. The museum also sponsors and hosts a variety of public programs that include lectures, workshops, and performances. Guided group exhibition tours can be arranged by request, and museum archival materials are available for public research by appointment.
