Cumberland is located in Allegany County between the Pennslyvania and West Virginia state lines in far western Maryland along I-68 near the Green Ridge State Forest. Once the main route through the Cumberland Narrows to the Ohio Valley passed through here. Cumberland is the hub of the Cumberland, Maryland-West Virginia metro area.
