Located on North Eutaw Street, on the second floor of the
Baltimore Equitable Society Building, an 1857 Italian Renaissance structure.
The city's oldest corporation, the society was formed in 1794 to insure local buildings against fire. Its fire mark, a plaque with two clasped hands and the date of the society's founding, is still seen on many Baltimore buildings.
Museum displays include early hand-operated fire pumpers, helmets, parade hats, megaphones, fire buckets and American and foreign fire marks.
Open Monday through Friday 9am-4pm.
