Part of the
Washington metro area, Greenbelt is located in
Prince Georges County 16 miles northeast of the city center between
New Carrollton and
College Park along I-95. Greenbelt was constructed in 1935-38 as a planned community and garden city with funds from the New Deal administration of President Franklin Roosevelt. Depression glass and 1937 furnishings designed specifically for the Greenbelt houses are part of the glimpse of the past that can be had at the Greenbelt Museum on Crescent Road.
