National Museum of Dentistry

The National Museum of Dentistry, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is a lively center where visitors can enjoy interactive exhibits, historic artifacts and engaging programs. Upon entering the museum, guests face to face with a life-sized model of a female circus performer executing an iron jaw act, as well as an amazing display of toothbrushes with ingenious designs, the Tooth Jukebox, dental instruments, and children's books on dental subjects. An animation is offered to teach the important facts of brushing, flossing, fluoride, whitening/bleaching, sealants, mouth guards, tooth development and anatomy, the dangers of oral piercing, tobacco use and oral cancer. The Museum gift shop offers creative items representative of dentistry, including molar stools, tote bags, vintage posters, office decor, illustrated books, and more.
