Thrasher Carriage Museum |
This museum features more than 40 late-19th and early-20th century horse-drawn conveyances, including formal closed carriages, sleighs, carts, milk wagons and the inaugural carriage used by President Theodore Roosevelt. Several of these vehicles have been used in movies, or to convey government dignitaries. The extensive collection, once privately owned by local resident James Thrasher, is noted as one of the most unique in the United States. Also displayed in the renovated circa 1800s warehouse are authentic carriage accessories such as hitches, saddles, and lap robes.
Located in the Frostburg Depot Center off of I68, exit 34. Open Tuesday-Sunday, May through September; daily in October; weekends only November-December. All other times by appointment only.
