In
Talbot County, Wye Mills lies on Hwy 662 off US 50 across the bay from
Annapolis. The Wye River, the Wye East River, and
Wye Oak State Park surround it.
The town of Wye Mills grew up around Old Wye Mill, which produced flour for General Washington's troops at Valley Forge. The restored mill continues to operate on a limited basis and grinds and sells flour the first and third Saturday of the month.
Wye Church, a quarter-mile south, is a restored Colonial structure with a hanging pulpit and box pews. A reconstructed vestry house is furnished in period and a parish house built in the 18th century style are nearby.
