Hampden Academy was founded in 1803 in the central Maine community of Hampden. Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, it offers approximately one hundred and fifty courses to meet the educational needs of all students from the communities of Hampden, Winterport, and Newburgh. The library offers traditional texts, magazines, newspapers, audio and visual material. The athletic activities provide an excellent training ground to establish leadership skills, initiative, responsibility and physical fitness.
