Located in the Maine Center for the Arts, the Hudson Museum's collection includes one of the best Prehispanic Mexican and Central American materials in the United States. The collection also contains artifacts from the Native American Cultures of the Pacific Northwest, the Plains, the Southwest, the local Penobscot, South America, Arctic, Oceania, Asia, and Africa. The museum features six to eight traveling exhibits yearly.

The permanent collection contains over 8000 archaeological artifacts, the William P Palmer III Collection being one that specializes in Mexican and Central American findings. This collection includes 8000 objects including Precolumbian ceramics, lithics and gold, and more recent dance attire from Central America.

The Native American collections center on nearly 3000 objects that originated from the NW coast of the US and Canada, the Arctic, Plains, SW and NE US, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Japan, China, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and India.
