Presque Isle is located in Aroostook County just west of the United States/Canada border between Caribou and Houlton along US Highway 1 on the banks of the Aroostook River near Squapan Lake and the Saint Johns River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 8,872, a decrease of 1,678 since 1990.
