This 'living memorial' park takes in over 2,000 acres on Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Ontario. The park pays tribute to the key role that Roosevelt played in the histories of both Canada and the US, as well as the life-long associations of the former President with his family summer home on Campobello.
The Roosevelt's 34-room 'cottage' may be toured; the home contains furniture, toys, photographs and other Roosevelt family items. Gardens are scattered throughout the grounds. A visitor center offers photographs, artifacts, and presentations relating Roosevelt family history; a 40-seat theater presents a video history, 'Beloved Island.' Restrooms are available.
Recreation at the site includes a Friar's Bay picnic and observation area with splendid views, and an accesible Bog Pathway at Eagle Hill. The Natural Area is open year-round, while the cottage and visitor center are open Memorial Day through mid-October. There is no charge for access to any portion of this park.
