Built in the 1850's, the home was purchased by Captain J. Willard Cates J.W. (as they call the Captain) and his wife, Olevia, in 1875. He expanded the original house to accommodate his growing family. With the new renovations of their two largest bedrooms are named for them, with the balance of the rooms named for local traditions and events. Each of the six bedrooms here are individually decorated, and all but one of them have water views. Three bathrooms are shared. Due to their allergies, they cannot accept pets. Due to Maine state law, this is a non-smoking B & B. Well mannered children are welcome.
