Avoca is in
St. Clair County, and in the
Southeast Region (is part of the
Detroit, Michigan metropolitan area).
This community is located off of Hwy 136, and northwest of Port Huron.
Shortly after the Port Huron and Northwestern Railroad was built through Kenockee Township in 1882, plans were made to persuade people to move to and build in the newly platted Avoca. Part of the publicity used to lure settlers were displayed in handbills that were distributed.
