Blissfield is in Lenawee County, and in the Southeast Region. This community is located southwest of Detroit between Adrian and Lake Erie along US Highway 223 on the banks of the Raisin River near the Ohio state line.
Blissfield is part of the Ann Arbor, Michigan metro area.
Blissfields first settler, William Kedzie from Delhi, New York, made the first government land purchase here along the River Raisin in 1824. Later that same year, he sold it to Henry Bliss, from neighboring Monroe County.
A local railroad, the Adrian & Blissfield, runs freight from the elevator as well as a tourist passenger train from the historic downtown area, where Victorian style, turn-of-the-century buildings contain one of a kind shops and stores.
