Bloomfield Hills is in Oakland County, and in the Southeast Region. To locate Bloomfield Hills, go just north of Detroit between Pontiac and Detroit along Interstate 75 near Anchor Bay and Lake St Clair. Bloomfield Hills is part of the Detroit, Michigan metro area.

On January 28, 1819 the very first land entry in Bloomfield Township was completed, by Colonel Benjamin H. Pierce, brother of Franklin Pierce (U.S. President). Judge Amasa Bagley became the first actual settler, settling on what came to be known as Bagley's Corners, later known as Bloomfield Center, and now as Bloomfield Hills.
