Cambridge Junction is located in
Lenawee County, and in the
Southeast Region. You can find Cambridge Junction just southeast of
Jackson between
Jackson and Adrian along Highway 50 near the Raisin River and Wamplers Lake. Cambridge Junction is part of the
Ann Arbor, Michigan metro area.
Norman Geddes, from western New York, bought the first government land here in 1833 and settled on it in 1835. In 1838, Sylvester Walker, later a state senator, built a tavern at the crossroads of the Chicago turnpike and LaPlaisance Bay Road. Later, the crossroads became known as Walker's Junction. Cambridge Township was organized and named in 1835 and the settlement took its name. And then on February 5, 1840, the towns post office was established.
Today, Walker's Tavern still stands and is a popular tourist attraction.
