Clawson is in
Oakland County, and in the
Southeast Region. You can locate Clawson just north of
Detroit between
Pontiac and
Royal Oak along Interstate 75 near the Red Run River and Banner Creek. Clawson is part of the
Detroit, Michigan metro area.
The reason Clawson got its name is by a family who lived there named Lawson, the "C" was added mistakenly by the United States Postal Department. Clawson became a city in 1940.
