Elk Rapids is in
Antrim County, and in the
Northern Region. This community is located just northeast of Traverse City between
Traverse City and
Charlevoix along US Highway 31 near the Grand Traverse Bay and Elk Lake.
This town was platted in 1852 and originally named Stevens, and changed in 1858 to its present name Elk Rapids.
Today, the county continues to expand, and Elk Rapids is at the center of this growth, with a complete renovation of the downtown area, a new and expanded marina on Elk Lake and Lake Michigan.
