Fennville started back in 1862 when Elam A. Fenn, along with Levi Loomis, constucted a sawmill here, calling it Fenns Mills. The town received a Post Office in 1868, and was incorporated as a village a year later.
Today, Fennville is a progressing agricultural community situated amid farms and orchards. It is also known as "Goosetown," as many Canadian Geese make their home there for the season at the Fennville State Game Area south of town.
