Flushing is in
Genesee County, and in the
Central Region (part of the
Flint, Michigan metropolitan area). You can locate this community northwest of
Flint on Flushing Road and situated on the Flint River.
As a lumber town, Flushing was first settled in 1836 when Charles Seymour, the first resident, and Horace Jerome partnered to build a sawmill here. It received a post office in 1839.
Flushing has many well-preserved turn-of-the-century style buildings as well as a Victorian style train depot across the river. There are many unique shops on the main street with a scenic river walk on the south side of the bridge.
